Have you ever heard of Wix before? I hadn’t! While setting this portfolio page up has been both fun and challenging in its own way, I am super happy to have a lot of information about me all in one place. I felt as if the easiest part of setting up my Wix was the very first thing, picking out a layout. Once you find the layout that fits you best, building upon it is super easy. The most challenging part of creating my Wix account was the unknown. I had never even opened one before so not knowing what to do or how to do it was challenging. Thankfully, with the provided layouts and suggestions by Wix, every step is becoming easier. I am still in no way a professional and have LOTS of learning to do as this project continues.
There is something magical about a newfound confidence in the online realm. While mine personally is still growing, there is a lot of excitement coming from my Wix page. I can’t pick out one specific part that needs high attention. Every aspect needs to be focused on and improved. That will only come with time and a deepened knowledge. So far, I don’t have any specific questions that need to be answered about my portfolio. I am eager to learn more and gain a better understanding of it as a whole.
The best experience I have ever had with a leader is on a personal level. My father has been a fire chief for many years and I have had the privilege of sitting front row to watch him. He is a leader that develops his firemen but also puts a priority on self-development. He is always working to better himself FOR his men. I think that is important because it not only makes him better but the firehouse as a whole. I’ve watched as he has pulled out strategic thinking from men that didn’t believe they had it in them. He has become someone that many men in the fire service look up to and strive to be.
In a past job, I helped run the local pool. On the last day of the season, we would hold a ‘Pooch Paddle’. Every year my manager would try and put it together and every year it was chaotic and horribly ran. There was zero organization, zero delegation, zero communication to lower-level staff but high expectations from the manager that everyone does the best they can with those zero instructions. If I was the manager in this situation, I feel as if I would communicate with my staff more, delegate tasks and jobs to those helping instead of them just standing around, and focus on the organization before the event.
